Year Three Blog

Sophie had some lovely letters from her classmates.

 

Well done Y3, you have settled really well into the juniors.  As you can see, last week the children nominated Tom as the class superstar and I’m sure there will be a lot of very good contenders this week!  Well done to Tom, and good luck everyone else!  I have been very impressed with the standard of work and the enthusiasm of the children so far! 

Here are a few reminders about home tasks to help to keep up the good start - remember to come in and ask if you need help with any of this! 

Reading:

• Read out loud to an adult at least TWICE a week.  Encourage your helper to ask you questions about the text to see what you have understood!
• You need to hand your green record book in at least twice a week, so make sure someone signs it for you!
• REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOUR BOOK!

Spellings:

• You will get your new spellings on MONDAYS and will be tested the next Monday, so don’t forget your book!
• You need to copy your spellings neatly into the front of your book and then learn them. 
• Remember to look for other words with the same pattern if you have learned your spellings.

Reading log:

• You need to do one a fortnight.
• Use the ideas in the front of your log book.
• Date and number each piece of work.

Reading Comprehension:

• These are given on Fridays once a fortnight, and need to be returned by the next Friday.
• You might need an adult to read the text with you, but you should try to answer the questions yourself.

Homework:

• This is given on Fridays, and needs to be returned by the next Friday.
• Try to do your homework on your own (you might need to have it explained first) ask for help if you need it.

Welcome to the new Y3 children, ready to face the challenges of the juniors… including the stairs!

As soon as the staff have got to grips with the website (!) we hope to be able to give some details of timetables etc to help you remember all the new routines!

 

Mrs. Parr and I would like to say a great big “thank you” to the new Y4 for all the lovely cards and presents we received at the end of last year.  We hope that you will enjoy your new class and have a very successful year - we will miss you!
